Mel is a Decorative Artist creating installations for interiors whilst also producing individual and limited edition pieces for the home.
Having long been a follower of maximalism, pattern and repeat for interior effect Mel uses a spectrum of materials to achieve this in her own work. Using shells, vintage fabrics and paintwork, her installations are as awe-inspiring as they are ambitious.
With a background in magazine publishing working for Vanity Fair and Tatler alongside creative collaborations with renowned interior designers, Mel has developed an eye and passion for craftsmanship. Both parents were successful designers, her father a prolific boat designer and, her mother founder of an ongoing successful Interior Design company, Pygmalion Interiors, now expertly run by her sister. Mel’s origins have been firmly set in the design world.
An ever discerning eye means she is drawn to the ‘one off’, ‘hard to find’ items that are rarely seen or repeated. Forever scanning the marketplace and always looking for the whimsical Mel is focused on the potential to regenerate and recreate, ultimately bringing new purpose to interior objects and creating classic interior pieces. Always wanting to make less but better, she likes to think of herself as a creative alchemist, transforming and bringing new life to one-of-a kind pieces.
